In Stories from the Clarence Valley 2024 – Fly by Night you’ll find flying foxes swooping and fluttering in the dark. These tales are now immersive audio stories combining the power of performance, voice, sound, and atmosphere to deepen the storytelling experience.
The podcast series was locally produced by 2GF and FM1047, featuring the voices of Mark Conaghan, Maya Conaghan, Chris Cormack, Misty Fisher, Erica Fletcher, Tess Foley, Karla Hubbard, Cam Kleinschmidt, Desan Padayachee and Paisley Padayachee, narrating the authors’ original works.
“All of my passions have culminated in the one project, a love of performing, a love of radio and a love of creative locals who came together to narrate the wonderful and unique stories of our amazing local writers.” – 2GF Breakfast announcer and co-ordinator of the podcast series, Misty Fisher.
Clarence Valley Council is coordinating an 8-year project funded by Local Government NSW to restore remnant rainforest for flying-foxes, including the grey-headed flying fox which is vulnerable to extinction. The project is in partnership with the Susan and Elizabeth Islands Board and NPWS. To find out more about flying-foxes in the Clarence Valley head to the Clarence Conversations page at https://www.clarenceconversations.com.au/flyingfoxes where you can list flying fox roosting sites, register your flying fox-stories, and find out why flying-foxes are so important.
Special thanks are extended to all the local authors, Clarence Valley Council, Susan and Elizabeth Island Boards, and 2GF and FM1047.
